Summer Rowing Camps
Summer rowing camps are provided by the Dayton Boat Club coaching staff
and University of Dayton Rowing Coaches. The athlete-to-coach ratio is
an incredible 5:1! Our experienced coaching staff includes a national
champion, an A-10 "Coach of the year," and a US Junior National Team
development coach. RegattaSport (see website)
is our sponsor and a T-shirt is included in the camp fee, along with other items.
Intro to Rowing - Juniors
The Introduction to Rowing Camp will take place over three sessions this summer: Session 1
is June 9-21, Session 2 is June 23-July 5, and Session 3 is August 4-16. These camps will
teach the basics of the sport of rowing to boys and girls, primarily those entering grades
8-10 (with age waivers in certain cases). The participants meet six times and are taught
the basics of boat safety, boat handling, coxswain commands, and, of course, rowing.
Graduation from the introductory session on the water allows the athletes to move up to
more advanced offerings. A variety of times will be available for these sessions. Please note
schedule preferences on your reply. Click here for more details,
fees, and the registration form for our Junior Introduction to Rowing program.
Coached Sculling
Coached sculling sessions will be offered all summer (June, July and August), for club members
who are experienced rowers (see our masters page) and who are just
graduating from the intro sessions. A variety of times will be available for these sessions.
Please note your schedule preferences when you
contact
us. Members of the University of Dayton coaching staff will be directing your skill
improvement during these one-month periods, with 10 to 12 on-the-water sessions. (Special
short-term membership rates are available for students to make this great program more affordable!)

the coached sculling program.
Financial Support
The cost of these programs is $100. Financial support is available for young athletes who
want to row but who need help paying the camp fees.
